Well, beloved readers, after 2 years here at attribute I am saying good-bye. Why, you ask? Oh, how sweet of you. That’s a great question...I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I ran out of thoughts and opinions for the moment, a block of some sort. Maybe I’m lazy or perhaps life is crazy; I have other things I’d like to manifest. I don’t like deadlines, especially redlines. One thing that I know for sure was that hearing all of the lovely feedback I got, from all of you, made me feel like people could actually understand me on some level. Relating to what I was going through, month after month: From family affairs to love affairs, travel, adventure, champagne, old friends, new friends, Rabbi’s and cigarettes...I’ll bow out not so gracefully with this:
On Rituals and Change.

Today is the day of Independence for the United States and I think Elliot Smith sang it best:
"Future butterfly, gonna spend the day higher than high
You'll be beautiful confusion
once I was you
I saw you caught between all the people out making a scene
And a bright ideal, tomorrow

Last month was one of my favorite holidays, May 5th, also known as Cinco de Mayo. On that day in 1862, the Mexican militia was victorious over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in Mexico. It’s also the day I broke up with my boyfriend, Rene in 2006. He was Mexican and so it just felt like a good day to do it…

Sometimes I wish I could be the rail thin girl who can sit Indian Style at my peg legged dining table and drink Tennessee whiskey from a vintage Collins glass in my Cuban inspired kitchen. Listen to Serge Gainsbourg, smoke cigarettes and write the next “Reservoir Dogs”, then drive over to Culver City in my shiny Benz and hi-five my Rabbi on Shabbas. Wait, that is me. Except, substitute Moët in whiskey’s place and this column for “Reservoir Dogs”. Oh and I’m curvy. Diary of a curvy girl, read on…

This last week I went skydiving for the first time. Skydiving is where you purposely jump out of a perfectly good airplane with a piece of "rip-stop" nylon that uses "zero porosity", otherwise known as a parachute. A Norwegian friend of mine is having a Scandinavian docu-series filmed about her life here in glossy Hollywood so she asked me to do this segment with her because she said, “You, Aleeza are de craziest uf all uf my friends” so of course in this case I would have to say yes, live up to the expectation and jump out of that perfectly good airplane at 13,000 feet with a guy who looked like one of the original cast members of Point Break strapped to my back. No problem.
