You may know Mr. Silver from Certified Coach Records as they have just put out several up and coming hit records. A fan favorite is “Hot Topic”, produced and performed by KIDD, a new music sensation out of New Orleans. Perhaps another Kanye on the scene, KIDD writes, performs and produces his own songs. Visit www.uhatin.com to hear this song, as well as their other intoxicating singles featuring Young Peedee, Lil Boosie, Haze and Gillie DA KID- the "King Of Philly". Their music is crunk, catchy and contagious.U HATIN? Can this southern white male with a background in marketing medical products and services be a force in the Hip-Hop music arena where 11 million people are trying to get through a four-foot door? When you ask him, he says, "There is no doubt about it because the talent we have is just too thick. The songs are undeniable and all of our artist have huge commercial appeal." Silver was excited after he got a surprise call from a DJ friend who had recently moved from Savannah, GA to Wilmington, DE; he called to tell Silver that while driving home from work that evening he heard “Hot Topic” on 101.7 FM: DJ “R Rated” was playing the song during an early evening mix-show. (For those of you who do not know the mix-shows are where new songs from up and coming artists start to get radio play along with established super stars. When the songs get good responses they eventually make it onto regular rotation.) Silver confides, "It [regular rotation] is a big hurdle but we will jump right through it and then, we will be off to the races. The reason my investment group has chosen to jump into this super high-risk venture is because of the confidence that if one of our songs breaks from one artist; all of our artists will take off. This is why any investment in our artists is an investment in the group as a whole. When you go into a game where almost no one makes it, you better spread your odds out.” The record label is also structured where the artists own part of the record label. This was also designed to create team unity. I know we will all be on the edge of our seats watching this music drama unfold: Thus the idea behind the clothing line.U Hatin? I don't think so, Silver is a very likable guy and his drive is infectious. He describes the U Hatin?TM initiative as an anti-hate campaign where a percentage of proceeds will go towards charities that help children in need. His last retail venture, with Bath and Body Works, has helped raise, to date, over $400,000.00 for The American Breast Cancer Foundation. He expects the U Hatin?TM clothing line to explode and to sell over 100 million items. "We will smoke the ‘Got Milk?’ campaign. Ours will be a full clothing line,” Silver explains. "Can you think of anything more appropriate going across a girl’s behind or top than U Hatin?" he asks. The response Silver has received regarding some of his test marketing has been phenomenal. As a matter of fact, the inventory was sold out completely. Now, people are waiting in line for their next items to come out. Why is U Hatin?TM so popular? “It is simply fun and it hits on a serious issue: Hate. Hating is negative and this campaign and clothing line lets people know this in an entertaining way,” explains Silver. He also points out how equally popular the clothing is for guys, which has the same slogan but different font designs and items of clothing. Everyone in life gets hated on and at times many have, unfortunately, experienced a tinge of this emotion. Silver’s anti-hate campaign makes sense… simply by wearing a “U Hating?” hoodie and opening dialogue, we can all take steps toward recognizing that hate is a four letter word that we could all do without. And, hey, you’ll look good at the same time. U Hatin? I hope not. We are pleased to feature Silver at such an exciting time in his career. Go check out uhatin.com and we’ll be keeping abreast of what he is up to next. Tamara Chandler, is an OH/GA native who resides in CA.
