singlestart-upLaura Silverthorn thought it would be a great idea to give recognition to young, single CEO's thus the birth of singlestartups.com

She has been fortunate enough to find a plethora of these unique, mostly serial entrepreneur's to add to the growing numbers of young, cool, CEO's on the site.  The mission of Single-Start-ups, according to Silverthorn: "To get this group together somehow, and to have fun meeting them all myself."

Silverthorn shared with attribute magazine's Founding Editor, Stacey Louiso, how these individuals are "qualified" to be featured on Singlestartups.com.

SL: What was the inspiration behind Single Start-Ups?

LS: People ask me this all the time and I wish I had a better answer. One day I decided I wanted to meet other people like myself and took a chance there were others out there, the next day I had a website. Honestly, it was on a total whim and just took off.

SL: How did you find your first round of Single CEO’s?  And those future Single CEO’s?

LS: I started with people I had come across in real life, then followed those with entrepreneurs I found through a query I ran with a PR service, and of course, word of mouth. I never imagined I would get the huge amount responses I did from the very beginning. My inbox is never caught up.

SL: What qualifies someone to be featured on the website?

LS: They must have started or co-founded their own business, but more importantly be well-rounded. Past interviewees have participated in activities ranging from beauty contests to extreme rock climbing, and everything in-between.

SL: What is the biggest goal of Single Start-Ups?

LS: To get us all together...hopefully in one city! I'm thinking of planning an event first in NYC to see how it goes. Who's coming???

SL: Please share a little about Laura?  (Career, passions...)

LS: Passionate about individuals, art, and relationships. Newly vegetarian and painfully shy...

SL: What ‘single’ left the biggest impression on you to date and why?

LS: That's tough as I have developed a relationship with so many of them. Probably Craig Wolfe of Celebriducks. Very nice guy, very quiet and genuine; works with celebrities and is never star-struck. No crazy reason why, I just like him as a person.

SL: Are there any personality traits you have found those featured have in common?

LS: Confidence and short attention span...which is why so many are serial entrepreneurs.

SL: What traits, if any, have surprised you in these individuals?

LS: When Ivy League grads ask me to proofread their answers...I love that! It shows everyone has a fear of rejection and/or imperfection.

SL: Do you find your CEO’s all live in the big city or,  are their locations diverse?

I would love to find some who are more remote, but so far they have all been in the city. New York, San Francisco and Boston are full of single CEOs.

SL: What have you learned from this endeavor that you keep in mind on the daily?

LS: No one in this world is better than anyone else. Even successful people have flaws.

SL: Any words of wisdom to share with fellow single CEO”s out there or those aspiring to be such?

LS: Make connections. Who you know is everything.

Thanks so much Laura for letting us interview you... attribute looks forward to keeping up with the site's growth and seeing what new places you unearth awesome, talented, individuals.
